IPL 2012: Deccan Chargers will aim to win every match, says Dale Steyn

Deccan Chargers bowling spearhead Dale Steynwas on the top of his game on Sunday, as he dismissed Richard Levi for the second time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012.

However, Steyn’s brilliant bowling spell couldn’t help then winning against Mumbai Indians, as they succumbed to their sixth loss of the season.

Although Steyn believes it will be great to go on winning each and every game of the tournament.

“We will still try to win. We participate in this tournament to win the matches and to win the tournament. How fantastic will it be if we win all our remaining games?”

Regular skipper Kumar Sangakkara selflessly dropped himself for the match against Mumbai on Sunday while selecting the best team.

“We thought this was a wicket, which was probably going to seam around a little bit, and it was Sanga’s decision to keep himself out. He felt that we should play an extra international seamer. That was a captain’s decision and we respect that; and it almost worked tonight,” Steyn was quotes as saying in the official site of the IPL.

Steyn suggested that Deccan were probably 30 or 40 runs short in the match against Mumbai.

“I think that says a lot about the team. I don’t think we are a pushover team. I think we are a fantastic team. We were bowled out for 100 and still managed to take the game to the 19th over. We have lost a couple of games, but it’s not like we are losing by 10 wickets or getting thumped by 70 or 80 runs, if we are batting second. We can beat any team on any night. Unfortunately, this season we have been on the other side because of some unluckiness.”

“I don’t think we need to change. We just have to be 10 percent better at everything; that includes our batting, bowling and fielding. Otherwise, I think we are playing unbelievably well. The results might not say that, but we have just not been lucky enough every time we have lost,” commenting on the changes in the team that he would like to see.
